On Monday night last we presented €330 to Mallow Meals on Wheels which was raised from images sold that were on display at Herlihy Centra Mallow during this year’s Mallow Arts Festival. Thanks very much to Herlihys Centra, the photographers who donated their prints and to those who purchased any of the images. The money raised is going to a great cause.

Our guest speaker at the club last Monday night was Viv Buckley Fine Art Photography from Mallow camera club. Vivien showed us her creative IPF Fellowship distinction panel of cyanotype images and talked us through her journey and various processes used to create them. We were also shown many digital images ranging from studio portraits to creative digital art. Vivien explained how she puts a creative image together to tell a story and how she went about processing each image on Photoshop. Thank you very much Vivien for a fascinating evening.
A very big Congratulations to Blackwater photographic society members Paul Madigan and John Mullane who both received their Licentiateship Distinctions from the Irish Photographic Federation today in Thurles. Both panels received high praise from the assessor’s with some commenting that some of the images on the panels were some of their favorites on the day. Congratulations to all the other successful panels today especially to Rory O Connor from Blarney Camera club on receiving his Fellowship and to Breda O Mullane from Mallow camera club on receiving her Associateship. Very well done to all!!
On September 16th we had the pleasure of having our friends from Mallow camera club over for a visit to the club.
There was a large attendance from both clubs and we were all treated to a fabulous display of images from members from both clubs who showed images on the night.
Teas, biscuits buns and cakes were served up during the interval which gave old and new friends time to catch up with each other.

Blackwater photographic society will hold a Model shoot on Monday evening October 9th in Mallow and are looking for any local aspiring Models (Male or female) and makeup artists to take part.

The Blackwater Photographic society return for a new season on Monday September 4th with an Open night.
New members are always very welcome and as usual we’ll be running a Free 8 week beginners course for those new to photography each week.
The club meet at 8pm every Monday night in The Social Services Center Mallow (Eircode P51FXF6) which is located on the right hand side on the entrance to Mallow Youth center and Mallow Swimming pool.
Club members will have images on display on the night and will be available to answer any questions or queries you may have about the club..
The club has an exciting programme for the coming season with a wide range of activities including guest speakers, studio workshops and various outings shooting Landscapes, wildlife and street photography etc.
Our 2023 Mallow Arts festival exhibition went up today (July 26th) and will be on display at Herlihys Centra on the main street until Monday next (July 31st) If you are in the area stop by and take a look. We are thrilled to announce that the Blackwater Photographic Society Photographer of the Year Awards 🏆 was held on Monday night and was an incredible success! We had an amazing panel of judges, Mike Brown, John Hickey, and Michael Strapec, who were all absolutely fantastic and highly professional. A big thank you to these talented individuals for their invaluable expertise and time.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to all the members who participated in the competition and made it such a memorable event. Your creativity and dedication truly shone through!

This year, we introduced a new award, the “Judges Choice award,” and we are thrilled to announce the winners. A massive congratulations to Blackwater Photographic Society member Paul Madigan who’s images will appear in the book accompanying David Attenborough new BBC series “Wild Isles” which premieres on television in early March.
Not only are Paul’s images included in the book itself, his image from Lady’s view In Killarney is also featured as the cover image. The series will show some incredible footage from Killarney National Park during the Red Deer rut. Be sure to check out the TV series and of course pick up a book. Well done Paul
