The Blackwater Photographic Society currently have a Photography Exhibition at Cork County library’s LHQ Exhibition Space, next to County Hall, which is generously supported by Cork County Council’s Art Office. The Exhibition which features images from the majority of our members will run for a month.If you are in town call in for a look.
Ballycotton Outing going ahead as planned
Tomorrows scheduled outing to Ballycotton , Saturday 15th of Febuary will go ahead as planned , leaving from the Arches at 1pm .
Ballycotton Outing Saturday 15th Febuary
There is an outing to Ballycotton this coming Saturday 15th of Febuary . We will leave the Arches at 1 PM . As always it will depend on weather conditions , if we have to cancel on Saturday we will reschedule to an early start on Sunday morning 16th of Febuary weather permitting . The plan for the outing will be posted on the Website by Friday night.
SACC Nature Competition Awards
Congratulations to Jim Heffernan and Pakie O’Donoghue who were both awarded Certificates of Honorable Mention in the recent SACC Nature competition 2014. Jim was awarded his Honorable Mention in the Color Print Open competition and Pakie won his in the Themed Projected section “The Natural World”. Well done you both on a fantastic achievement. Congratulations are also in order to Yvonne Esaw, Sinead O’Connell, Sandra Saridonas Zeimyte and John Flynn who, along with Pakie & Jim, had qualifying images for the IPF Nature competition National Finals coming up in March. Well done to you all and best of luck in the finals.
Photoshop Tutorial Monday 10 th Febuary
On Monday night 10th Febuary there will be a Photoshop Tutorial . The plan is to download the images to your computer and you will be able to edit them as we go through the tutorial
Guest Photographer Stephen Murphy
On Monday 27th January we are delighted to have press photographer Stephen Murphy as our guest. Stephen has been covering events in Mallow and the surrounding areas for some time and has accumulated a vast library of photographs.
Tea and coffee will be served on the night.
killarney Outing Going Ahead
The scheduled outing to killarney for tomorrow Saturday 18 th January will go ahead as planned , leaving the Arches Mallow at 1pm or you can meet up at the car park at Torc Waterfall at 2.30
Outing To Torc Waterfall
The club is holding an Outing To Torc Waterfall next Saturday leaving the arches at 1.00 pm or you can meet up at the car park at Torc Waterfall at 2.30. We hope to be at the lakes for sunset.
Open theme competition
Next Monday night we are holding an open theme competition at the club. Each member can enter up to five images total in any format printed or digital. The night will start at 8.00 pm to allow time to organize the digital images.
First Meeting of The New Year 2014
The first meeting of 2014 will take place on January 13th at 8.30 pm in The Arches Bar , Mallow . We kick of the New Year with an evening with members Dave Lavery and Sean Murphy with a portfolio from Sean and Dave giving us some tips and general settings for the different every day scenarios that we will encounter . Also a reminder that our Exhibition of Members work is on in Mallow Library and will run for two weeks
Club Outing to Dingle
Our outing to Dingle took place yesterday Saturday 28 december. We had no less than 14 photographers braving the elements . The day started with a 6AM departure from the Arches , our first stop was Kinard Beach for dawn and sunrise followed… by a stop at the garage for breakfast. We then headed out to Slea Head stopping off at a turbulent Clogher Beach and finished the day at Coomenole where we caught the Sunset.As usual there was plenty of help and advice on hand for those who wanted it. We had good craic and plenty of banter with a light atmosphere as always , a big thanks to everyone for their support and help on the day and also to Sheila for bringing us BUNS
